Government-Driven Scientific Revolution with a Human Touch

The Government of the State is spearheading a scientific revolution with a human face, aligned with President Claudia Sheinbaum’s vision of sovereignty and sustainable development.

  • The state is home to strategic projects with national reach, thanks to the efficiency and coordination of the state’s Secretariat for Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (SECIHTI) in collaboration with the federal counterpart.
  • Puebla is establishing itself as a hub for research, innovation, and higher education with international recognition through partnerships with European and Silicon Valley universities, as well as companies like Volkswagen to strengthen dual education and future technological projects.

Key Projects and Collaborations

In the Sierra Negra, progress is being made on the creation of the Astroparque del Gran Telescopio Milimétrico (GTM), a unique space worldwide that blends science, tourism, and environmental care. This location will enable children, youth, and young adults to interact with the global scientific community.

SECIHTI Secretary Celina Peña highlighted Puebla’s representation of Mexico at the Glow Eindhoven 2025 festival in the Netherlands, one of the most significant global events in art, science, and technology. Through works like “La flor de almas” and “El video del Día de Muertos,” Puebla showcased its creative and technological talent, leading to connections with leading companies such as ASML, Europe’s largest semiconductor manufacturer.

Empowering Innovation and Education

The push for innovation includes training over 3,400 specialists in drones who have applied their knowledge in agriculture, cartography, and civil protection. Furthermore, indigenous Puebla women participated in the International Summer of Science in London, advocating for inclusive research in science with international funding support.

SECIHTI Secretary Celina Peña reminded us that the Government of Puebla State, as part of its holistic vision, promotes over 60 free courses in artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, semiconductors, and technical English through partnerships with the University of Arizona and the Mexican Technology Institute. These actions enable more Pueblans to access the knowledge economy, reducing disparities and creating high-value jobs.
