Alejandro Armenta’s Commitment to Social, Human, and Regional Development
TEPEXI DE RODRÍGUEZ, Puebla – In the warmth of gathered families, hope took shape in Tepexi de Rodríguez. During his 127th visit to the state, Governor Alejandro Armenta led the symbolic handover of community project funds under the Programa de Obra Comunitaria, accompanied by state officials, municipal presidents, and citizen committees.
“Tepexi is the heart of the Mixteca and it deserves all our commitment,” expressed Alejandro Armenta, visibly moved before the residents of this micro-region composed of 17 municipios. “We are here to fulfill the mandate of our president, Claudia Sheinbaum: more territory, less paperwork.”
Strengthening Communities and Reducing Inequality
Framed within the Fourth Transformation, this strategy aims to bolster community fabric and reduce inequality gaps. With an investment exceeding 9.5 million pesos, resources were allocated to 52 citizen committees for projects ranging from access arches to community tourism infrastructure, housing, and day-stay facilities.
Key Projects Funded
- Equipping a day-stay facility in Ahuatlán for the construction of an access arch in Huehuetlán El Grande;
- Building access to the region’s waterfalls;
- Constructing sidewalks and curbs along the main road in Atotonilco;
- Creating 8 round units for vulnerable individuals in Santa Inés Ahuatempan;
- And more.
Governor Armenta also announced the arrival of 15 mobile machinery units for road rehabilitation, agricultural zone drainage, and improved harvests. The operation will be fully funded by the state government.
Community-Driven Transformation
“This is a policy with soul, face, and heart,” affirmed Javier Aquino Limón, Secretary of Well-being, who reminded everyone that each committee was elected in a public assembly, prioritizing women’s leadership in resource management. “With transparency and honesty, these funds can transform their communities.”
For Humberto Bolaños del Rosario, Tepexi’s municipal president, the governor’s visit was not a protocol act but a testament to closeness and collaborative work. “Transformation is not just about building; it’s leaving a mark on people’s lives,” he said firmly.
Future Expansion of the Program
Backed by a state fund of one billion pesos, the community work program will see an increase next year. In Tepexi and throughout the Mixteca, transformation begins with the people’s hands.
