Key Initiatives and Investments in Ahome

In a recent presentation to business leaders, professionals, workers, and representatives from Los Mochis, Sinaloa Governor Rubén Rocha Moya introduced a package of 24 socially-focused projects and the 17,500-home housing program as part of the Sinaloa Economic and Social Reactivation Plan. The plan also includes recognizing Topolobampo as a development hub and constructing the Los Mochis-Chihuahua highway.

  • 24 socially-focused projects with an investment exceeding 72.8 million pesos
  • Development of industrial, logistical, and urban areas in Ahome
  • Creation of 600 direct jobs for the announced projects

Ahome’s Key Projects

  • Pavement of 7 streets (874.32 meters total length) for over 21 million pesos
  • Rehabilitation of sanitary and storm drains (15 projects) for over 26.4 million pesos
  • Water supply projects (2 projects) for over 25.3 million pesos

Rocha Moya emphasized that these projects, along with the statewide reactivation plan, will improve living conditions for Sinaloans and stimulate industrial, commercial, and housing development. He also highlighted the National Housing Program for Well-being, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum, which aims to build dignified and functional homes with access to public services, medical care, and education.

Housing Projects in Ahome

Under the National Housing Program for Well-being, the construction of 1,304 homes began in Las Cañas, Virreyes Parcela 28, and Nuevo Horizonte neighborhoods. The goal is to build a total of 3,169 homes in Ahome and 17,500 across Sinaloa.

Topolobampo’s Development as a Key Economic Hub

Rocha Moya pointed out that Topolobampo, with its strategic logistical, industrial, and energy potential, is recognized as a crucial development pole. Key projects include:

  • MEXINOL Methanol Plant
  • GPO/PROMAN Ammonia Plant
  • DH2 ENERGY Green Hydrogen Plant with Solar Energy
  • SEMPRA ENERGY Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal
  • OROCO RESOURGE COPR Copper Mining Project
  • Puerta Pacífico Industrial Park

Rocha Moya noted that the Mexico Plan has not previously considered Topolobampo as a development pole, unlike 14 other regions in the country. He expressed pride in having such a pole in Sinaloa.

Regional Connectivity and Integration

Another significant project is the construction of the Topolobampo-Chihuahua-Texas highway, which will improve connectivity between Sinaloa and Chihuahua, reduce transportation costs, and integrate remote sierra communities. The project, approved by the President, is now being completed with the collaboration of business leaders and both states’ governors.
