Collaborative Efforts with Federal Entities to Support the New Mexican School

The Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado Carrillo, has reaffirmed the commitment to significant advances in the New Mexican School (NEM) through programs that strengthen the National Educational System (NES). This collaboration involves the subsecretariats of Basic, Upper-Secondary, and Higher Education, along with the Educational Liaison Offices of the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) and the educational authorities of Mexico’s 31 entities.

In compliance with the General Education Law, these actions consolidate the Mexican Government’s presence in local education under President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. The Subsecretariats of Education have played crucial roles in transforming the NES.

Subsecretariat of Basic Education

The SEP head highlighted that the Subsecretariat of Basic Education has been strategic in transforming the NES. Their efforts focus on ensuring inclusive, equitable, and quality education through new plans and programs of study, teacher training, continuous school environment improvement, and the deployment of comprehensive well-being strategies like the Rita Cetina Universal Scholarship. This has led to a model that recognizes students as protagonists in the educational transformation.

Subsecretariat of Upper-Secondary Education

The Subsecretariat of Upper-Secondary Education has strengthened its role as a key driver for improving and modernizing this educational level. With a justice-focused, equal access approach, they’ve promoted academic diversification, teacher professional development, and policies that support student retention, such as the Benito Juárez Universal Scholarship. These actions have expanded educational coverage, strengthened student competencies, and established a pedagogical model promoting holistic development, critical thinking, innovation, and social commitment.

Subsecretariat of Higher Education

The SEP head emphasized that the Subsecretariat of Higher Education has reinforced its commitment to academic quality, innovation, and scientific research. By expanding university infrastructure and strengthening links with productive and social sectors, they’ve fostered comprehensive development contributing to the country’s economic growth. Policies ensuring inclusive and equitable access to higher education, student mobility, specialized talent formation, and relevant knowledge generation for national needs have also been implemented.

Key Actions in June

  • Participation in 229 state-level organizational board meetings
  • 142 civic events and protocolary acts
  • 94 meetings with state and federal authorities
  • 48 interinstitutional and thematic encounters of transversal relevance

El fentanilo te mata” (Stay Away from Drugs. Fentanyl Kills You). These actions reflect a coordinated effort addressing not just the academic dimension but also the students’ integral environment.
