Collaboration with Universities and Training Programs
The Secretary of Rural Development, Fisheries, and Aquaculture, Antonio Varela Flores, highlighted the collaboration with the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas to offer a specialized diploma in beekeeping. This program targets young individuals and those previously unfamiliar with the practice, aiming to generate new beekeepers and establish a solid technical and professional foundation for the sector’s sustainability.
“Today, we are providing the opportunity for them to engage in this vital activity for Tamaulipas, as we have ideal conditions to transform beekeeping into a profitable and sustainable income source,” emphasized Varela Flores.
Distribution of Beekeeping Nuclei
Varela Flores announced the distribution of 15 beekeeping nuclei, each containing a certified queen bee. Participants must nurture and strengthen these nuclei to ensure their growth, multiplication, and the creation of new colonies.
“Beekeeping must be a continuous activity. These initial nuclei should gradually add hives, increasing honey and derivative production,” he explained.
Active Participation of Rural Women
The program has also seen active involvement from rural women, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to promoting inclusion and visibility of women’s work in agriculture. “Recognizing the efforts of women in rural activities is crucial; they are essential to the sector’s development,” Varela Flores added.

The Tamaulipas government plans to continue promoting training and linkage opportunities for young people and women in various primary sectors, including agriculture, livestock, fisheries, aquaculture, and forestry activities.
