Background on Miguel Ángel Valdez García and His Role

Miguel Ángel Valdez García, the Secretary of Education in Tamaulipas, Mexico, has announced a significant investment in the state’s educational infrastructure. This move aims to ensure that all schools are equipped with necessary conditions for providing quality education throughout the upcoming school year.

Details of the Investment

Tamaulipas has a total of 6,223 schools across all levels, with nearly 6,000 being public institutions. Approximately 30% of these public schools face a backlog in infrastructure, necessitating investment in public works.

Valdez García explained that through the La Escuela es Nuestra (LEEN) program, which aims to enhance conditions in public basic education institutions, over 900 million pesos have been allocated. This amount will be added to the resources from the Fondo de Aportaciones Múltiples.

“This is an investment of more than 900 million pesos (LEEN); the Fondo de Aportaciones Múltiples contributes around 400 million pesos. Thus, we will have approximately 13 million USD for this upcoming school year, and as the governor has promised, we hope to eliminate this backlog by the end of his administration,” Valdez García emphasized.

Support from the National Director of Normal Schools

The national director of Normal Schools recently visited Tamaulipas and toured the Rural Lauro Aguirre Normal School. There, he learned about the teachers’ work at the institution.

The national director expressed satisfaction with the school community’s efforts and pledged to construct new buildings or gyms. Valdez García credited Dr. Américo Villarreal for facilitating the national director’s visit.

Celebration of Graduates and Future Teachers

Valdez García celebrated the graduation of 85 young individuals from this educational institution, who will join schools in need of teachers.

“We welcome you to rural communities that desperately need teachers. We hope the enrollment at this normal school continues to grow, as it is a vital training ground. In Tamaulipas, nearly 30% of rural, multigrade, and single-teacher schools still exist, and the type of training provided at Lauro Aguirre is crucial,” Valdez García concluded.
