Budget Reduction Details

The budget for the Tribunal Superior Agrario (TSA) has experienced a significant 25.1% reduction between 2023 and 2024, as reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi). In contrast, the budget for the Unitary Agrarian Courts (TUA) saw a 3.8% increase, rising from 483.7 to 502.3 million pesos.

Combined, both institutions had a total budget of 711.6 million pesos in 2024, marking a decrease from the previous year’s 763.2 million pesos.

In 2024, TSA magistrates conducted 115 inspection visits to the TUA to ensure adherence to legal procedures and order. These visits resulted in 888 recommendations for improving judicial practices, an increase of 19.8% compared to 2023.

The states of Mexico, Oaxaca, and Guerrero accounted for 20.9% of the visits, while Sinaloa, Mexico City, and Jalisco concentrated 24.3% of the recommendations.

In 2024, the TSA received 1,022 cases, while the TUA handled 49,745 cases, admitting 48,514. The TSA resolved 1,214 cases, and the TUA concluded 48,962. By year’s end, the TUA had 32,033 cases in progress.

Compared to 2023, the TSA and TUA received 14% and 7.8% fewer cases, respectively. Meanwhile, the TSA saw a 11.6% increase in resolved cases, while the TUA experienced a 5.2% decrease in concluded cases.

Of the 1,214 cases resolved by the TSA, 63.1% pertained to review resources, and 17.3% were related to justice exigency – a legal instrument through which the TSA orders magistrates to fulfill procedural obligations within the timeframes set by law.
