To bolster identity verification and close loopholes for fraudulent activities, such as identity theft, in housing credit applications, Fovissste—the Housing Fund of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (Fovissste)—signed a collaboration agreement with the National Population Registry (Renapo).

During the signing ceremony, Fovissste’s Executive Vice President Jabnely Maldonado Meza emphasized that the agreement would enable more accurate identity verification of state workers through official information cross-referencing and using the CURP (Unique Registry of Population) as a central element.
“This instrument we sign allows us to achieve several objectives, first and foremost providing greater legal certainty when originating and disbursing credits to state workers, and enabling the streamlining and simplification of procedures through the use of CURP as a single key, which will improve information quality and prevent fraud,” Maldonado Meza stated.
Renapo’s Director General Explains the Benefits
From Renapo’s perspective, the agreement expands identity verification capabilities in Fovissste processes. Renapo’s General Director, Félix Arturo Arce Vargas, explained that Renapo would provide Fovissste with its databases to confirm personal information and relevant registered acts linked to credit eligibility.
“Renapo makes its population databases available to Fovissste so that it can verify identities and all registrable acts we have on file, such as marriage records, ensuring that beneficiary information is up-to-date,” Arce Vargas expressed.

Meanwhile, the Undersecretary for Human Rights, Population, and Migration of the Secretariat of Government, Félix Arturo Medina Parra, underscored the significance of ensuring strict data protection measures accompany access to official databases to safeguard citizens’ rights.
