Regions with High Demand for Security Measures

Quintana Roo, Veracruz, and Tabasco are experiencing the highest demand for building fortification tools, particularly for homes and offices.

Key Players and Their Roles

The Consejo Nacional de la Industria de la Balística (CNB) has reported an 8% annual increase in blindage architectural requests since 2025, with the trend expected to continue due to political and economic tensions in Mexico.

René Rivera, president of the CNB’s Architectural Blindage Commission, explains: “Economic crises often lead to insecurity. In Mexico, with its impunity, only one out of ten crimes is reported to authorities. The likelihood of a criminal reaching the Public Ministry is minimal, so insecurity persists.”

States with High Prioritization of Protection

Home and office protection has become a priority in Quintana Roo, Veracruz, Tabasco, Michoacán, Guerrero, and Morelos. This aligns with the National Urban Security Survey’s findings from March 2025, which reported that Villahermosa, Tabasco had the highest perception of insecurity (9.6 out of 10 people felt unsafe), followed by Cancún, Quintana Roo (8 out of 10).

Materials for Fortification

Rivera highlights the challenge of spreading knowledge about fortification materials. Many people believe that thick glass, iron bars, or reinforced steel doors provide adequate protection. However, this may not be the case.

Currently, certified ballistic and vandal-resistant materials are available, such as reinforced polycarbonate glazing and high-powered rifle-resistant steel doors, offering greater security assurance.

Tufic Yusef Saade, delegate of the CNB’s Automotive Blindage Commission, adds: “The increased demand for fortification corresponds to the new challenges brought by changing governments and security policies. Prevention is crucial in these uncertain times.”

Challenges Facing the Industry

Tufic also warns about industry challenges, such as growing unfair competition from companies without international certifications, potentially jeopardizing user safety.

“It’s essential for those seeking fortification to choose companies adhering to the highest quality and security standards. Inadequate fortification can be more dangerous than having none,” Tufic emphasizes.
