Introduction to Jorge Del Valle and His Role

At 34 years old, Jorge Del Valle Mohar holds one of the most prestigious positions in Mexico’s sports industry: President Executive of Diablos Rojos del México, the most successful baseball team and current champion of both the Mexican Basketball League (LNBP) and Softball League (LMS).

Despite being a millennial, born in 1991, Del Valle identifies as an old-school leader. He emphasizes the importance of order and adherence to agreements, creating a balanced relationship with Santiago Harp, the vice president of the club’s board.

Family Support and Del Valle’s Background

The Harp family, owners of Diablos Rojos since 1994, have shown complete trust in Del Valle due to his decade-long dedication and growth within the organization. Starting as a coordinator in 2016, he quickly rose through various roles, including director of the Alfredo Harp Helú Academy in Oaxaca, development manager for Diablos Rojos and Guerreros branches, deputy sports manager, vice sports manager, and finally, president executive.

Alfredo Harp Helú, the team’s owner, is an 80+ year-old Mexican entrepreneur with investments in ceramics, tourism, and sports equipment. Recently, he has transferred more responsibilities to his son, Santiago, leading to notable changes in both the sports and business aspects of Diablos Rojos.

  • Two LMB titles, one LNBP title, one LMS title, and one BCL Americas title in the past 24 months
  • Entry into the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV)
  • Affiliation of employees with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS)

Vision for the Centennial

Born in Guadalajara, Del Valle’s first sports experience was playing soccer. He later transitioned to a career in sports management, intrigued by the lack of specialists in the field. After completing a degree in Sports and Recreation Administration and a master’s in Business Administration, he knew his path lay in management.

Del Valle’s primary goal as CEO is to establish Diablos Rojos as a sustainable and attractive investment, independent of the owner’s capital. He acknowledges Alfredo Harp’s significant contribution but stresses the importance of building a self-sustaining organization.

The team’s upcoming centennial in 2040 is a key focus for the current administration. Del Valle aims to lead Diablos Rojos to this milestone, maintaining their position as a leading professional sports organization.

Currently employing around 100 people in both sports and administrative roles, Del Valle describes the team’s business model as “360-degree sports entertainment experience,” emphasizing gastronomy, entertainment, and high-level athletes at the Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium.
