Three Spots Up for Grabs

The Leagues Cup 2025, a tournament featuring 18 teams from the LIGA BBVA MX against 18 from Major League Soccer (MLS), is underway. This official tournament, backed by the CONCACAF, also offers three spots for the Concacaf Champions Cup 2026. The champion will advance directly to the round of 16 in that tournament.

Tournament Structure

The tournament consists of two phases:

  • Phase One: Groups, which began on July 29
  • Phase Two: Knockout Stages, culminating in the grand final on August 31

Besides the prestige, teams compete for:

  • A direct ticket to the Round of 16 in the Concacaf Champions Cup for the champion
  • Access to the Concachampions 2026 for the runner-up and third place in the tournament

The Columbus Crew arrives as the reigning champion. In Leagues Cup history, there have been four different champions, evenly split between two Mexican clubs and two from the MLS.
