Introduction
The Mexican Baseball League (LMB) has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Holcim México, a leading provider of integrated, innovative, and sustainable construction solutions. This collaboration aims to enhance the construction or renovation of baseball stadiums and academies across Mexico.
Partnership Details
For the first time in LMB history, a construction industry company is investing in sponsorship and will be partners under a two-year contract. The alliance was presented at LMB offices, with key figures from both organizations in attendance: Christian Dedeu (CEO of Holcim México), Carlos Sánchez (Director of Public Affairs, Communication, and Social Impact), and Horacio de la Vega (LMB President and CEO).
Holcim México’s brand will now be visible in 20 cities across Mexico, reaching nine of the country’s ten metropolitan areas. The sport is played by over 3 million people, with 10,000 young athletes participating in youth leagues annually.
Current State of Baseball Stadiums in Mexico
During a press conference, The Economista questioned the current state of baseball stadiums in Mexico. Christian Dedeu, Holcim México CEO, responded: “We haven’t conducted a mapping of stadiums yet. We’re interested in understanding the applicability of this initiative. As a construction company, we operate in over 50 countries, not just in cement, but also in credit and other construction solutions. We’re available to support the LMB in any way we can.”
Horacio de la Vega, LMB President, emphasized the league’s previous investments in stadium infrastructure to improve game transmissions. With construction expert sponsors like Holcim, the league aims to support development and expand their business model.
Financial Access and Strategic Influence
- Question: What credit or loan access does each of the 20 teams have?
- Question: How much does the stadium’s comodation condition influence construction or renovation project proposals?
Answer: We are exploring various investment opportunities with different investors. There is significant interest from multiple entities to provide resources to the LMB, such as credit lines, investment funds, and enhancing fan experiences. This collaboration involves several industries interested in supporting the LMB, indicating shared interests and collective efforts to build credibility. Holcim’s sponsorship marks the first time a company of this nature has partnered with the LMB.
Answer: Substantial investments have been made in the past, with five stadium renovations exceeding 200 million pesos. Despite comodation or similar challenges, Holcim’s partnership with the LMB aims to support better decision-making for projects. As a sponsor, Holcim can influence and advocate for improved construction decisions across all teams.
