Orlando Pride Strengthens with Mexican Star
Orlando Pride, the only club in the world with two of the six most expensive transfers in history, has bolstered its roster by signing Lizbeth Jacqueline Ovalle. The Mexican player, known for her goal-scoring prowess with Tigres UANL and founding the Liga MX Femenil, has joined Orlando Pride for a record-breaking transfer fee estimated around $1.5 million.
Ovalle’s Accomplishments
Over eight years in the Liga MX Femenil, Ovalle has been a standout player, achieving six league titles and being selected for the national team. Her impressive statistics in every competition highlight her exceptional talent, having played in the Campeón de Campeonas, won a gold medal at the 2023 Pan American Games, and excelled in the Copa Oro W 2024.
Orlando Pride’s Transfer History
Ovalle’s signing follows Orlando Pride’s history of high-value transfers, including Barbara Banda in 2024, one of the largest investments in a player in NWSL history. The club has also facilitated international transfers for Uchena Kanu to Racing Louisville FC, Evelyn Iker to Milan, and Mia Fishel to Chelsea.
Contract Details
Ovalle has signed a contract with Orlando Pride until the 2027 season, with an option to extend through 2028, contingent on securing her P1 visa and International Transfer Certificate.
Mark Wilf’s Statement
