Background on the Development Polo

Puebla, Pue. Following the officialization by the state government of the Well-being Development Polo, named as the Capital of Technology and Sustainability, encompassing 275.2 hectares between the municipalities of San José Chiapa and Nopalucan, the Secretaría de Desarrollo Económico y Trabajo (Sedetra) announced that 15 companies are interested in investing.

Who are the Interested Companies?

Víctor Gabriel Chedraui, head of the state dependency, revealed that the interested companies belong to the automotive parts sector. These firms have shown interest since the Polo’s establishment and are currently in contact to understand their land requirements.

Minimum Land Requirements and Support for Small Industries

Chedraui explained that the minimum land allocation per company will be 5,000 square meters, aiming to encourage the establishment of micro and small industries alongside larger projects.

Incentives for Investors

Chedraui highlighted that the state administration, led by Alejandro Armenta Mier, will offer tax incentives to companies that invest in the mentioned zone, located in central-eastern Puebla.

Polo’s Strategic Importance

The declaration of the Development Polo, published in the Federal Register (DOF), outlines that it is divided into five fractions, each meeting the criteria approved by the Intersecretarial Committee for Promotion: Macro Localization, Communication and Connectivity, and Population.

Chedraui emphasized that the Well-being Development Polo aims to foster regional development, enabling import substitution and promoting local business purchases instead of relying on foreign entities.

Connectivity and Accessibility

The Polo’s road infrastructure ensures efficient merchandise, input, and personnel flow, enhancing its integration into regional production chains. Its central-eastern Puebla location also supports the connection of the Altiplano Central with the Gulf of Mexico, less than 70 kilometers from Puebla City and 40 kilometers from the Arco Norte, linking it to the Valle de México, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, and the Veracruz port.
