Government Federal Launches Registration Campaign for Small Businesses

On Thursday, the federal government launched a registration campaign for the “Made in Mexico” program in Puebla, which could benefit over 300,000 local companies.

Incentives and Benefits

Juan Carlos Natale López, the regional coordinator for the federal Secretary of Economy in Puebla and Central Mexico, highlighted that companies seeking certification will have access to:

  • Tax incentives
  • Customs facilitation
  • Improved export opportunities within the framework of the T-MEC and other international treaties.

Natale López explained that the “Made in Mexico” distinction represents not only a symbol of quality and pride but also a competitive advantage.

He emphasized that Puebla’s exporting companies should obtain this certification to boost their commercial activity, while those interested in entering exports will have short- and medium-term market opportunities.

The certification has a five-year validity, and the process is free, accessible, and gratis if the applicant meets the guidelines.

Strengthening Internal Consumption and International Markets

Víctor Gabriel Chedraui, the state’s Secretary of Economic Development and Employment, stressed that “Made in Mexico” will promote internal consumption, reinforce identity, and open opportunities in international markets.

Chedraui mentioned that the program will be promoted in Puebla’s 27 micro-regions to inform entrepreneurs from various sectors about the benefits of registration.

He added that the state government supports President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s policy to recognize “Made in Mexico” for those striving to find new markets.

“Through concrete actions like the Mexico Plan and strengthening the ‘Made in Mexico’ brand, we elevate national quality, innovation, and talent,” Chedraui explained.

Eligibility Criteria

Federal and state authorities emphasized that only companies proving their production or final assembly takes place within Mexico’s borders are eligible.

In Puebla City alone, there are 125 established companies classified as Industria Manufacturera, Maquiladora y de Servicios de Exportación (IMMEX) with regular and substantial export volumes.

However, the universe comprises 100,000 economic units in Greater Puebla, making the current number of export-oriented businesses seem small to local authorities.
