Introduction to Coparmex and its Role in Puebla

Coparmex, the Confederation of Mexican Employers’ Organizations, is a prominent business organization in Mexico. In Puebla, the state’s Coparmex chapter is led by Beatriz Camacho Ruiz. As the president, she plays a crucial role in advocating for private sector collaboration with the government to foster prosperous and sustainable development in Puebla.

Coparmex’s Proposal for a State Council

Beatriz Camacho Ruiz proposed the creation of a State Social, Economic, and Environmental Council to Puebla’s government. This council aims to promote commercial missions, integrate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into production chains, enhance employment training programs, and address other key issues.

Objectives of the Proposed Council

  • Promote commercial missions to attract foreign investment
  • Vinculating SMEs as suppliers in production chains through identification and certification programs
  • Updating employment training programs with specialized courses from universities and training centers, focusing on strategic sectors like electromobility, logistics, and energy
  • Establishing a citizen-business monitoring mechanism to measure the impact of development poles on employment, investment, and reducing inequalities

Collaboration Between Private Sector and Puebla Government

Camacho Ruiz emphasized the importance of close collaboration between the private sector and Puebla’s government to achieve sustainable development. The proposed council will serve as a platform for dialogue among authorities, businesses, and unions.

Addressing Specific Issues

Commercial Missions

Although there is no specific number of commercial missions proposed annually, the focus is on keeping Puebla on the radar of foreign investors.

Camacho Ruiz highlighted the need to identify countries with which Puebla has commercial ties for potential visits, as well as promoting the state within Mexico to attract domestic investments due to its strategic position for product distribution.

Supporting SMEs

To integrate SMEs into production chains, Camacho Ruiz suggested implementing an identification and certification program to connect them with major industries.

Employment Training Programs

Camacho Ruiz called for updating employment training programs by offering specialized courses in collaboration with universities and training centers, focusing on strategic sectors such as electromobility, logistics, and energy.

Monitoring Mechanism

A citizen-business monitoring mechanism will be established to assess the impact of development poles on employment, investment, and reducing inequalities.

Alignment with Government Initiatives

Coparmex agrees with Governor Alejandro Armenta on promoting the formalization of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises that generate over 90% of jobs in Puebla.

Camacho Ruiz acknowledged the importance of large companies, value chains, and macroeconomic indicators in achieving development goals, including diversifying Puebla’s economy.

She expressed gratitude to Governor Armenta for integrating Ciudad Modelo into the federal government’s 14 Development Poles for Well-being, which presents a strategic opportunity to establish an electric mobility cluster in Puebla.
