Grupo Por un País Mejor Strengthens Presence in Jalisco with Simi Jalisco Colony and SimiPet Care Clinic in Guadalajara
Zapopan, Jalisco. Grupo Por un País Mejor recently inaugurated the 10,000th Farmacias Similares store in Mexico, along with the SimiPet Care clinic in Guadalajara and the Simi Jalisco colony, expanding their presence in Ecatepec (Estado de México), Guadalupe (Nuevo León), and Mérida (Yucatán).
Víctor González Herrera, President of Grupo Por un País Mejor, shared with El Economista: “Guadalajara is the most important city after Mexico City for us; we have been growing quite well here in Jalisco.”
Simi Colonia: A Socio-Environmental Project
The Simi Colonia project, driven by the Doctor Simi Foundation, aims to improve vulnerable communities with educational deficiencies and inadequate food security and healthcare. The project adopts a community to foster comprehensive family development and enhance the quality of life.
In Zapopan, 500 families from Agua Fría and Nueva España colonies will benefit from this initiative.
Expansion Beyond Mexico
Grupo Por un País Mejor anticipates opening 700 more pharmacies across Mexico in the coming months, continuing their expansion plan in the United States through a collaboration with CVS. They aim to surpass 400 pharmacies in the US.
“By the end of the year, we will reach 400 pharmacies, and for the following year, the project will practically reach 2,000 pharmacies; these are corners within CVS stores, and they will continue to grow. We’ll be integrating more products, with a second wave of products this October and more to come,” explained González Herrera, who also revealed plans to open another Similandia or fun pharmacy in Texas.
As part of their international expansion, the company currently operates 40 Farmacias Similares in Colombia and aims to establish a hundred stores there.
Maquila Laboratories
Although specific investment amounts were not disclosed, González Herrera announced the opening of a maquila laboratory in northern Mexico, in addition to those in the Capital, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.
“We are implementing top-tier technology to provide the best service and ensure rapid response,” he emphasized.
He mentioned that, as of today, the group generates 22,000 direct jobs and approximately 80,000 indirect ones. “Remember that most pharmacies are franchises, and we also have comodatos, which don’t employ people but create jobs through doctors; we have over 16,000 doctors,” he added.
