Key Players and Their Roles
The Mexican capital, Mexico City, is home to 70% of the 700 French companies operating in Mexico, according to David Ribot, Vice President for Geographic Expansion at the French-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Industry. These companies have shown a strong commitment to sustainable bilateral economic development, with investments increasing significantly in recent years.
French Companies’ Priorities
Ribot highlighted that French companies prioritize secure social employment, competitive salaries, and international projection. Although these investments are often discreet, they play a crucial role in the Mexican economy.
Francia Recluta Event and Expansion
During the second edition of Francia Recluta in Mexico City, the event reaffirmed its commitment to the capital. However, there is a clear interest in expanding to other regions of Mexico, such as the northern states, Querétaro, Guadalajara, and Veracruz. This year, the job fair will take place not only in Mexico City, Querétaro, and Monterrey but also in San Luis Potosí to accommodate the growing presence of French companies, particularly in the automotive, service, and technology sectors.
Patron Companies
Some of the patron companies for the 2025 edition of Francia Recluta in Mexico include ManpowerGroup, Capgemini, L’Oréal, Up Sí vale, Sodexo, Expertise France Groupe AFD, Airbus, Richemont, Axa, Bic, SGF Global, France Alumni, Campus France, Galia, AMATI, Ampely, and Amarante. These companies will participate in the event to create job opportunities.
Impact on Mexico City’s Economy
French companies contribute to both direct and indirect employment in Mexico City, with significant implications for economic development. Inés González, Secretary of Labor in Mexico City, emphasized that work is a fundamental human right, deserving dignity, formality, fair compensation, social security, and freedom from discrimination.
Support from the Mexican Government
Soledad López Acosta, Head of Administration and Finance at the Secretariat of Economy, mentioned that more than 600 companies affiliated with the French-Mexican Chamber seek professionals trained in Mexican institutions. The Secretariat of Economy is prepared to support these labor linkage processes, aligning with President Claudia Sheinbaum’s Plan México.
