DHL Supply Chain Opens 200,000 Square Meter Facility in Mexico State
Despite global uncertainty, Clemens von Goetz, the German Ambassador to Mexico, reaffirmed confidence in German companies’ continued investment in Mexico.
DHL Supply Chain’s New Logistics Center
On Thursday, DHL Supply Chain launched operations at its new logistics center, Megacampus, located within the T-MEX Park in Nextlalpan, State of Mexico. The complex spans 200,000 square meters and includes four buildings, with the initial two covering half of the area.
Mario Rodríguez de la Gala, President of DHL Supply Chain Mexico, highlighted the significance of this location during the event: “We are in one of the most important logistics corridors in the country, where exportations exceeded US$25.6 billion in 2024 alone.”
The Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México (ZMVM) hosts over 2,400 logistics sector units, positioning itself as a crucial and leading area in the country. Rodríguez de la Gala added, “This facility is designed to meet the most demanding requirements of our clients.”
“This facility is considered a tool to address today’s and the modern world’s logistics challenges, symbolizing what we are as an organization – a reliable partner,” he stated.
German Companies’ Confidence in Mexico
German companies, including DHL, continue to trust Mexico’s economic development, according to Ambassador Clemens von Goetz: “The logistics sector plays an increasingly relevant role in the Mexican economy.”
He mentioned that the investment for the two initial buildings amounts to approximately 200 million pesos and is expected to generate around 200 jobs in Nextlalpan.
“Investing in Mexico, amidst general uncertainty, is not just a financial decision; it’s a statement of confidence in the country,” von Goetz explained. “Through conversations with German companies here, I perceive concerns, but overall confidence in the strength of their operations prevails.”
Importance of Logistics
Logistics systems ensure that food arrives fresh, medicines are delivered on time, and manufacturing processes maintain their pace without interruptions. Ambassador von Goetz emphasized, “Both Germany and Mexico heavily rely on functional logistics.”
The T-MEX Park, which houses DHL’s Megacampus, is crucial for economic development. It strategically integrates with major federal projects in Nextlalpan, such as the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), the upcoming Suburban Train, and the new AIFA-Pachuca railway project, according to Nextlalpan’s President Lorena Alameda Juárez.
Rodríguez de la Gala further explained the facility’s efficiency: “It features LED lighting, low-water consumption systems, natural ventilation, energy-efficient windows, and other aspects that make this place efficient for work and coexistence with our citizens from an operational resilience perspective.”
