Uber Pet Expands to Guadalajara, Meeting Growing Demand
Guadalajara, Jalisco – In response to increasing demand, Guadalajara has become the second city in Mexico where Uber users can travel with their pets using Uber Pet. Starting May 7, dogs, cats, and even exotic animals can now be transported via Uber Pet, according to Esteban Illades, Communication Manager for Uber Mexico.

Based on INEGI data, Illades mentioned that there are 80 million pets in the country, with 7 out of 10 Mexican households owning at least one pet. This makes Uber Pet a sought-after service for ensuring safe and comfortable travel for both canine and feline family members.

Illades emphasized that Uber Pet aims to contribute to making Guadalajara a tourist-friendly and economically vibrant city, offering all the products available on Uber. With the FIFA World Cup scheduled for Guadalajara next year, this service will further enhance the city’s appeal.

Since its launch in Mexico City last year, Uber Pet has seen “hundreds of thousands” of trips and has been well-received by users who frequently travel with their animals. Popular destinations for pet-owning families include dog parks, veterinary hospitals, and airports.
Requirements for Using Uber Pet
The only requirement for using Uber Pet is booking a trip at least 30 minutes in advance through the app, with the option to book up to 90 days ahead. Uber Pet will be optional for driver partners, who can choose to accept pet-related trips by adjusting their preferences.
Partnership with Patitas de Ayuda
Uber has also announced a partnership with Patitas de Ayuda A.C., a non-profit organization promoting animal adoption and protection, as well as training animals for therapy work.
Uber has donated over 20,000 pesos to the foundation and committed to using its social media platforms to share photos of animals available for adoption, helping tapatios in need find homes.
“Pets are increasingly becoming part of many families… Today’s families are multi-species; they have perrhijo and gathijo,” said Gloria Zepeda, president of Patitas de Ayuda.
