Japanese Companies Strengthen Ties with Guanajuato

The government of Guanajuato is on a working visit to Japan to bolster commercial, diplomatic, and cultural relations with the country. During this visit, two significant investments have been announced.

Senyo Co., Ltd Invests $20 Million in Abasolo

Senyo Co., Ltd., based in Osaka and founded in 1956, has committed to a $20 million investment to build a plant in the municipality of Abasolo. This facility will specialize in high-precision mechanical components, such as bearings and machined parts for the automotive industry.

The company will employ advanced technology, including CNC lathes and automated inspection systems. The project is expected to create 70 direct jobs. Senyo Co., Ltd.’s global clients include NTN Corporation, Sanyo Special Steel Co, and Okida Iron Works, with a production capacity of up to 600 million pieces per month.

“Our relationship with Japan goes beyond economics; it’s about shared values. We aim to ensure that the over 2,000 Japanese residents in Guanajuato feel at home and learn from each other’s cultures and traditions,” stated Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, Governor of Guanajuato, during her working visit to Japan.

ATECS Bets on Electromobility in León

In parallel, ATECS, a company specializing in the development of plastic parts for electric and hybrid vehicles, announced an $11 million investment to establish itself in León starting from 2026.

ATECS focuses on the development, design, and manufacturing of plastic parts using injection molding processes. The company is particularly known for its insertion molding of high-performance plastics combined with other materials, such as metal.

The new plant in León will create 130 jobs and produce parts for the automotive industry, specifically for electric vehicles (EV) and hybrids. ATECS’s direct clients are Panasonic in Mexicali and Honda in their plants in Ohio, USA, and Canada.

Japan’s Growing Presence in Guanajuato

These investments further solidify Japan’s position as Guanajuato’s leading commercial partner. Since 2006, Japan has accumulated over $8.9 billion in projects before the current governor’s visit. The 113 Japanese companies established in Guanajuato have generated more than 48,000 jobs, ensuring the continuity of thousands of direct and indirect jobs in the automotive sector.
