Experts Highlight Investment Opportunities in Luxury Real Estate and Hospitality Sectors

Guadalajara, Jalisco. The upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will host three Mexican cities, presents a significant economic growth opportunity for Jalisco in 2026 and 2027, according to Sebastián Aspe, an investment specialist at Banamex.

Guadalajara’s Prime Position

Aspe emphasized that Guadalajara, the primary host city for the tournament, is well-positioned due to its anticipated high-quality matches. He noted that the city had been preparing extensively, even before Mexico City and Monterrey, which have limited hotel availability with only around 30,000 rooms.

“The crucial aspect is having the tools to capture all possible investment and tourist spending,” Aspe Cassola stressed.

Sedeco’s Focus on Pymes

Cindy Blanco, the Secretary of Economic Development (Sedeco), highlighted that the international sports event offers a chance for small and medium-sized enterprises (Pymes) to increase their banking presence.

“With foreign tourists expected, many will use credit or debit cards instead of cash. It’s essential for Pymes to be equipped to accommodate these transactions,” Blanco explained.

Investment Areas in Jalisco

Michelle Fridman Hirsh, the Secretary of Tourism for Jalisco (Secturjal), pointed out that Jalisco boasts advanced infrastructure, including two well-connected airports, and its diverse offerings as its main strength.

During her recent participation in the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) in Madrid, Spain, Fridman Hirsh highlighted Jalisco’s competitiveness for the 2026 World Cup, with projects like the Nautical Escalinata, luxury hotel investments, and European certifications.

Given the significant growth in nautical tourism in Jalisco, with over 558,000 participants in 2025 (a 4.4% increase from the previous year), Secturjal aims to collaborate with the Galician Association of Nautical Activities to implement sustainable nautical routes in the Mexican Pacific.

The consistent growth of nautical activities in Puerto Vallarta and Jalisco’s coast has led Secturjal to seek investments in premium infrastructure and services to link maritime experiences with local value chains, generating direct economic benefits for coastal communities.

Furthermore, Jalisco’s authorities have explored new avenues for luxury real estate and hospitality expansion with Trobbu Resorts.

During a meeting with Trobbu Resorts’ leadership, the focus was on identifying investment opportunities for new boutique developments that integrate technology and exclusive travel experiences in the state, as reported by Jalisco’s Tourism Secretary.
