In response to the growing demand, Barreto confirmed that Megaflux is already in the process of hiring new personnel. “As we see these orders continue to grow, we will keep investing in expanding our capacity and hiring more people,” he said.

Megaflux’s acquisition of buses for public transportation in Ensenada is progressing, though it requires completing parallel processes such as route planning, securing financing from banks, and crucially, constructing charging infrastructure—patios with electrolineras.
Quintana Roo state has also joined, acquiring units for state use in Chetumal. Megaflux is also in advanced talks with other interested entities to advance towards electric public transportation.
Diversification into Medium and Heavy Logistics Market
Beyond public transportation, Megaflux is venturing into the medium and heavy logistics market, particularly in the last mile. They collaborate on customized developments with large corporations such as Grupo Modelo, Arca Continental, Bimbo, and PepsiCo. Barreto highlighted the potential in sectors like cold chain, where electricity becomes a more viable and cost-effective option due to the high energy consumption of refrigerated vehicles.
Battery Component Sourcing
Regarding critical components like batteries, Barreto acknowledged that they currently purchase cells from abroad, mainly in China, for final assembly in Mexico. He noted that while China leads, there is a trend of manufacturers in North America moving to fully localize production in the United States or Canada in the coming years.
Barreto is optimistic that the growing demand for electromobility, renewable energies, and data centers in Mexico will create the necessary ecosystem to justify future investments in battery production plants.
