Introduction

Nuevo León, a Mexican state known for its thriving technology industry, faces challenges due to economic uncertainty stemming from potential tariffs. This has led to paused projects in the tech sector, particularly affecting local firms. However, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping job dynamics by increasing software development efficiency with the same workforce.

The Role of Csoftmty and BID

To address this need, the Cluster of Information and Communication Technologies of Nuevo León (Csoftmty) is driving the “Fuerza TI” project, backed by the Inter-American Development Bank (BID). The initiative aims to reduce digital gaps in businesses and elevate the specialization level of talent in areas like AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and software development.

Csoftmty’s Growth in Specialized Talent

According to Ángeles Vela, Csoftmty’s General Director, there is a significant growth in specialized talent, particularly in cybersecurity, AI, cloud computing, data centers, and software development. “Companies experiencing the most growth are those in IT and public cloud services, as it offers them their own servers. Industries like Fintech and Retail increasingly require more specialized services,” Vela explained to El Economista.

Addressing Digital Transformation Challenges

Vela highlighted that one of the main challenges in digital transformation for businesses is fostering a mindset change to utilize AI tools and boost productivity. “We are at a critical juncture: if we don’t train people in digital skills, organizations risk becoming obsolete and losing competitiveness against global markets,” she warned.

Cultivating Organizational Culture and Digital Leadership

Csoftmty has identified a high demand for strengthening organizational culture and digital leadership, both in TIC companies and among users. As a result, they are promoting the development of soft and hard skills, from marketing campaigns to specialized software development.

Focus on Competencies and Skills

Vela emphasized that training should prioritize competencies and skills over academic titles. “A Silicon Valley speaker recently met with several universities and was asked about hiring. He stated that they don’t focus on a person’s degree but rather on their knowledge and skills, even a recent high school graduate can be certified. Technology breaks traditional norms; it doesn’t discriminate based on age or background. As long as there’s a willingness to learn, AI can help us become more efficient and even better citizens,” she concluded.
