Investment in Key Coastal Markets
Guadalajara, Jalisco. Posadas, Mexico’s leading hotel operator, is focusing on expanding its all-inclusive resort offerings in some of the country’s most important beach destinations. These locations include Nuevo Vallarta, Mazatlán, Los Cabos, Playa del Carmen, and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. In these destinations alone, Posadas will increase its room offerings by 1,100, representing an investment of over $300 million, according to Mauricio Elizondo Martínez de la Vega, Posadas’ Vice President of Development.
This year, Posadas opened the Fiesta Americana Nuevo Vallarta in Riviera Nayarit and plans to launch more resorts in Mazatlán, Playa del Carmen, and Punta Cana. Combined with their other openings and expansion plans in urban destinations, Posadas aims to add around 1,600 rooms, increasing their available inventory by more than 5%.
Fiesta Americana Nuevo Vallarta: A Family-Friendly Resort
The new Fiesta Americana Nuevo Vallarta, opened just a few weeks ago, is a family-oriented resort with 229 rooms. It highlights Mexican hospitality and the well-known Fiesta Americana brand in a rapidly growing area, Riviera Nayarit, with convenient access to Puerto Vallarta’s international airport.
The resort features six consumption centers, a spa, an extensive beach for families, three swimming pools, and facilities for groups and conventions. This well-rounded resort caters to various segments interested in the coast, including families, American couples, and businesses looking to host conventions or group incentive trips.
Complementing Puerto Vallarta with Nuevo Vallarta
Elizondo Martínez de la Vega explained that the new hotel complements the existing Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta, which has been with Posadas for over 40 years and remains well-positioned. The development of Riviera Nayarit has been crucial, attracting more luxury investments and targeting the American market.
“Our presence in both Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta strengthens our position, as we maintain our established resort in Puerto Vallarta while expanding to Nuevo Vallarta,” he emphasized.
Growth in Infrastructure, Capacity, and Connectivity
Elizondo Martínez de la Vega highlighted the growth in infrastructure, capacity, and connectivity at Puerto Vallarta’s international airport as a significant factor in the development of this shared Jalisco-Nayarit beach destination.
“The airport’s expansion and increased connectivity to the U.S. Central and West, as well as Canada, have been essential. Additionally, the destination’s growing road access to major Mexican cities with significant populations who enjoy traveling there, has further boosted its appeal,” he noted.
Aerial and Road Tourism
Posadas’ resorts in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit cater to both American aerial tourism and national road travel. Elizondo Martínez de la Vega explained that these markets complement each other well, with American visitors arriving by air and Mexican travelers driving during peak seasons and throughout the year.
Upcoming Openings
Posadas’ next opening is the Devossion by Live Aqua resort in Playa del Carmen, expected to open in August. This luxury adults-only resort focuses on wellness and stylish entertainment.
The third opening, planned for fall, is the Fiesta Americana Funeeq in Punta Cana. This family-friendly all-inclusive hotel features 498 rooms, a large convention center, and a water park. It will solidify Posadas’ presence in Punta Cana, where they opened their first hotel three years ago.
The final opening this year is the Sunvivia by Fiesta Americana in Mazatlán, offering 177 rooms targeted at families seeking affordable options with a balance of relaxation and fun.
Posadas also recently signed an operation to continue growing in Los Cabos, where they currently operate the Grand Fiesta Americana. A new Live Aqua hotel with 90 rooms is under construction, expected to open within the next 18 months.
Strong Performance in Beach Hotels
Over the past year, Posadas’ beach hotels have maintained an average occupancy rate of 76% and a 16% increase in revenue per available room.
“These figures underscore our experience and leadership in the Mexican hotel sector, as well as our ability to attract a significant portion of guests to these types of hotels,” Elizondo Martínez de la Vega concluded.
