Background on Ignacio Alarcón Rodríguez

Ignacio Alarcón Rodríguez Pacheco, the national president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Condiment Industry (Canirac), highlighted Puebla’s seven consolidated gastronomic corridors, which provide a competitive advantage in central Puebla.

Upcoming Investments

Canirac anticipates that at least 20 out of the 60 potential investments for Puebla and its conurbated municipios, including San Andrés Cholula, will be finalized by October.

Alarcón Rodríguez mentioned that foreign entrepreneurs who visited in March have yet to decide on which gastronomic corridor to establish their businesses.

He emphasized that these are significant investments, and the decision is not easy for entrepreneurs. However, there is a high interest among some to take the first step before year-end.

He estimated that a concretized investment would be around 5 million pesos, expecting at least 20 projects for the last quarter of the current year.

Alarcón Rodríguez also mentioned that each restaurant would generate approximately 40 jobs, as these are large establishments requiring extensive personnel for various areas to provide quality service.

Puebla’s Gastronomic Advantage

Alarcón Rodríguez highlighted that Puebla’s seven consolidated gastronomic corridors attract brands from northern and southeastern Mexico, along with the importance of security for foreign investors.

He explained that these entrepreneurs seek flexible markets to venture into, making Puebla one of the top choices in Mexico. This led to a commercial mission earlier this year.

Alarcón Rodríguez pointed out that any foreign investment strengthens the sector and generates more jobs in the tourism industry, which plays a crucial role in Puebla’s economy.

As a former leader of Canirac in Puebla, he noted that the state has attracted more investments over the past five years, prompting local restaurants to improve their establishments for competitiveness.

Quality of Service

Alarcón Rodríguez stressed that the quality of service, from dishes to customer attention, distinguishes one business from another. Therefore, efforts are made to train staff so that it reflects in attracting more customers.
