Querétaro, Qro. This year, approximately 42 investment projects have been successfully implemented in the state, maintaining the pace set for 2024, according to Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, the Secretary of Sustainable Development (Sedesu).

As we approach the final quarter of 2025, Del Prete is optimistic that Querétaro will reach the investment levels seen in the previous year.

“We have 42 investment projects, totaling around 14,000 million pesos. (…) We are maintaining this pace and expect to reach the same investment amount by the end of this period,” he stated.

Key Investment Projects in Querétaro

Among the confirmed projects this year are:

  • Solfium: A company announcing a $10 million investment in a technology platform focused on solar panel installations.
  • An alliance between Gerresheimer and Cryoinfra, resulting in a 100 million peso investment for the inauguration of Mexico’s first green hydrogen plant.
  • LG Innotek: Plans to establish a new production center in the state, investing 3,500 million pesos.

Energy Supply and Industry in Querétaro

Regarding the state’s energy needs and industry demands, Del Prete mentioned various transmission and distribution projects confirmed by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).

In addition to the energy capabilities being managed by private initiatives, an example is the CloudHQ data center campus in Colón, which includes a substation that will benefit other developments.

“We have been informed that the CFE is investing in energy transmission and distribution. (…) I understand that around 600 megawatts of transmission capacity will be generated by the end of this administration. (…) In addition to private investments, such as CloudHQ’s substation, which will support further developments,” he explained.

Del Prete estimated that by the end of the state administration (September 2027), Querétaro will have sufficient electricity capacity to meet the state’s needs.

For the industrial sector, these energy projects provide certainty for their operations due to increasing manufacturing needs and the demand generated by data centers, among other sectors.

Industrial Activity in Querétaro

The Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity (IMAIEF) from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) reported that Querétaro’s industrial activity dropped by 3.3% annually in July, attributed to declining mining, construction, and manufacturing industries.

Del Prete linked the industrial decline to factors such as the complex situation faced by both local and global automotive industries. He remains hopeful that July’s decline will differ from the rest of the year.
