Querétaro’s Hotel Sector Tackles Challenges Amid Economic Uncertainty
Mónica Aguilar Torrentera, president of the Querétaro Hotel Association (AQH), highlighted that the hotel industry in Querétaro faces significant challenges due to market uncertainty and low economic growth rates.
Macroeconomic Indicators as a Major Challenge
Aguilar Torrentera explained that the primary challenge lies in macroeconomic indicators, which are heavily dependent on overall economic activity and productive sectors.
2025 was a complex year for the industry, with no growth recorded. However, they managed to maintain similar indicators to 2024.
Positioning Querétaro as a Tourism Destination
Despite these challenges, the AQH continues to work on establishing Querétaro as an attractive tourism destination, promoting unique offerings that differentiate the state from other markets.
“We keep working to position ourselves and provide a unique selling point for Querétaro’s tourism. The government is also actively promoting distinctive tourism products, such as the Caminos Iniciáticos and transforming Querétaro into a destination for experiences, as well as creative tourism,” Aguilar Torrentera shared.
Promising Events in 2026
This year, the hotel sector anticipates several events in Querétaro that could boost demand for accommodations.
In March, Querétaro will host an event related to creative industries, which will also benefit the hotel industry.
“There’s a significant event coming up in March, similar to the World Economic Forum but focused on creativity. It’s the first time this event will be held in Latin America, and it will take place right here in Querétaro. We need to capitalize on this opportunity and leverage it for the hotel industry,” Aguilar Torrentera stated.
