Data Centers Dominate Investments in Querétaro
Over the past few years, under the current administration, Querétaro has attracted significant investments, with data centers being the primary focus. According to state government information, a total of $20 billion in investments have been announced, with $12 billion (60%) dedicated to data centers.
Additional Sectors Receiving Investments
Besides data centers, other sectors have also seen substantial investments. The automotive and aerospace industries together account for $7 billion of the total investments.
Successful Business Delegation in Spain
A delegation of Querétaro public servants recently attended the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) in Madrid, Spain. Their mission was to promote the state’s industrial and economic potential.
Key Investment Announcements
During the trip, the delegation secured three investment projects worth over 500 million pesos, with expectations of generating 1,000 to 1,500 direct and indirect jobs.
- Delta Tecnic: This technology provider for the plastic industry will invest 200 million pesos to expand production capabilities in Pedro Escobedo. The investment will create 240 direct and indirect jobs by supplying cables for vehicles.
- Plásticos Durex: The Spanish company will invest 215 million pesos in an expansion project, producing suspension components, pneumatic parts, and dust covers. This investment is expected to create 600 direct and indirect jobs in the Querétaro Aeropuerto Industrial Park (PIA) in Colón.
- Shad Nad: The Spanish manufacturer of motorcycle seats, luggage, and accessories held a meeting that could lead to establishing a plant in Querétaro.
- Strengthening Data Center Industry Links: The delegation also met with representatives from Spain DC (Spanish data center association) and Nabiax to bolster connections with key industry players.
The Querétaro governor, Mauricio Kuri González, highlighted the successful business delegation, stating that it promoted Querétaro’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in a vast and diverse market.
Querétaro’s Thriving Tourism Sector
The state’s tourism secretary, Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, reported on promotional activities during the Fitur. Querétaro has been chosen as the host for the World Wine Tourism Summit in 2027.
- Iberojet Flights: In just eight weeks, Iberojet sold 22,000 tickets for the Madrid-Querétaro route.
- Increased Flight Frequency: Starting May, Iberojet will operate the Querétaro-Madrid route twice a week. Volaris is also considering new projects in the state.
Querétaro’s business delegation showcased local company products during the Fitur, further emphasizing the state’s economic growth and international connections.
