Unemployment Figures and Trends in Querétaro

According to the National Survey of Employment and Occupation (ENOE), Querétaro saw 24,065 unemployed individuals in the first quarter of 2025, representing a 2% unemployment rate among the Economically Active Population (EAP).

This figure reflects a decrease of 0.6 percentage points compared to the same quarter in 2024 (2.6%), as reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

Key Demographics of the Unemployed Population

In absolute numbers, the unemployed population dropped by 23% in the January-March 2025 period, from 31,244 to 24,065 individuals compared to the same period in 2024.

In the current trimester, 40.7% of unemployed individuals were women, while 59.3% were men, according to ENOE results.

Growth in Employed Population

In contrast to the decline in unemployed individuals, the number of employed people increased by 3.8%, rising from 1,149,596 to 1,192,757 between Q1 2024 and Q1 2025.

The EAP also grew by 3% over the past year, increasing from 1,180,840 to 1,216,822 individuals in the same period. The EAP comprises both employed and unemployed populations.

The growth in the employed population was primarily due to an increase in individuals working in tertiary activities, followed by secondary and primary activities.

Working Hours

Most of the employed population, 55.4%, worked between 35 to 48 hours per week, with this percentage rising by 4.6 points compared to the previous year, according to ENOE results.

Additionally, 22.5% worked more than 48 hours per week, while 3.6% worked less than 15 hours a week by Q1 2025.

On average, the employed population in Querétaro worked 42.4 hours per week.
