Easter Break Boosts Querétaro’s Economy

Querétaro, Qro. The Easter vacation generated an economic impact of 900 million pesos in the state of Querétaro, according to data from the Secretaría de Turismo.

From April 14 to 20, the hotel occupancy exceeded 50% on average, the state agency reported based on initial reports from Querétaro’s hotel and tourism associations.

High Demand in Popular Destinations

The demand for lodging services was higher in some tourist destinations, where the occupancy ranged from 65% on Fridays and Saturdays; these levels were recorded in the city of Querétaro, the wine region, and the seven Magical Towns.

During this period, which sees a boost from religious tourism, activities related to Easter were held in the Historic Center of the capital (the Silent Procession); also, the Via Crucis took place in La Cañada, El Marqués, and in the municipality of Tolimán; furthermore, festivities were held in honor of the Virgin of Dolores, in Colón.

Querétaro Among Top Easter Destinations

According to information from the federal Secretaría de Turismo (SECTUR), Querétaro is one of the preferred destinations during Easter vacations; along with other destinations with or without beaches, such as Monterrey, Nuevo Nayarit, Puerto Vallarta, Bahías de Huatulco, Mérida, and other sites.

Safe Easter Season in Querétaro

The State Coordination for Civil Protection of Querétaro (CEPCQ) reported a white Easter season; they urged the population to maintain preventive measures during this second week of vacation.

This is one of the most important tourism periods for the state; therefore, commercial businesses, service providers, and tour operators anticipate a 1.5 billion pesos economic impact from April 14 to 27, according to projections from the Querétaro Chamber of Commerce.

The third sector’s expectations represent an annual growth of up to 17%, as the state is expected to receive nearly 325,000 tourists during both weeks, according to the chamber’s estimates.

Querétaro City’s Hotel Occupancy

The hotel occupancy in Querétaro City reached 51% according to the accumulated occupancy from week 1 to week 9 of 2025, i.e., from December 30 to March 2.

In that period, it positioned itself as the eighth city inside the country with the highest hotel occupancy, surpassing the average indicator of 44.4%, according to preliminary information from Mexico’s National System of Statistical Information on Tourism (DATATUR).
