Overview and Relevance

Querétaro, Qro. In the first half of 2025, the Centro Estatal de Empleabilidad de Querétaro reported between 10,000 and 11,000 workers who secured employment. This represents a growth of approximately two digits compared to the previous year, surpassing around 11%.

In contrast, only between 8,500 and 9,000 people found jobs in the first half of 2024 in the state. Erick Lugo Contreras, the director of the Centro Estatal de Empleabilidad de Querétaro, explained this positive trend.

Sector Distribution

The commerce sector absorbed the majority of job seekers, accounting for nearly 60%. Forty percent corresponds to industry, while the primary sector saw minimal participation.

Fluctuations and Current Status

Regarding the labor market’s behavior, Erick Lugo Contreras noted that in May, fewer companies issued job vacancies.

“We operated around 4,500 open positions; in May, it dropped slightly to about 2,900, but we’ve maintained a very good trend in promoting job vacancies,” he stated.

Despite fluctuations, Lugo emphasized that numerous vacancies remain active.

Services and Programs

In addition to job placement, the Centro Estatal de Empleabilidad offers state employment programs, including the Becas program for talent development. This beca allows recipients to receive on-the-job training in a company, with the company committing to hire at least 60% of those being trained.

“We absorb the learning curve, and for young individuals, it’s crucial as it’s their first job. They arrive with experience, which companies require and aligns with business needs,” Lugo explained.

According to the Encuesta Nacional de Occupación y Empleo (ENOE) by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi), Querétaro’s employed population reached 1,192,757 in the first quarter of 2025. This marks a yearly growth rate of 3.8%.
