Collaborative Efforts to Boost Sustainable Development

Querétaro, a Mexican state known for its logistical and industrial hub status, is set to spearhead projects in electric mobility, electrologistics, and community solar energy. This initiative stems from a collaboration agreement between state agencies, the Secretariat of Sustainable Development (Sedesu), the Querétaro Energy Agency, and the Sostenibilidad Global organization.

Key Focus Areas

  • Electrologistics: Leveraging Querétaro’s strategic location, the state aims to explore electrologistics potential. This field focuses on optimizing urban goods distribution using electric vehicles, as outlined in the research paper “Electrologistics: Urban Merchandise Distribution via Electric Vehicles” by Miguel Gastón Cedillo Campos and Hipólito Martell Flores.
  • Electric Mobility: Querétaro will promote electric vehicle adoption to reduce carbon emissions and foster sustainable transportation.
  • Community Solar Energy: Through the Alianza por la Equidad Energética (AEE), Querétaro seeks to implement distributed solar energy solutions, ensuring accessibility for underserved communities.

Additional Objectives

  • Documenting Querétaro’s public transport formalization experience to serve as a replicable model for other regions.
  • Promoting distributed energy models and community solar initiatives via AEE.

Leadership and Vision

Isabel Studer Noguez, president of Sostenibilidad Global, emphasized that this initiative can inspire other entities to expedite their energy transitions using locally-created solutions.

“Querétaro demonstrates that when government, businesses, and civil society collaborate, tangible solutions combining economic efficiency, social justice, and environmental sustainability can emerge… Sustainable mobility is not a future luxury; it’s a present-day right.”

Isabel Studer Noguez, Sostenibilidad Global President

Ricardo Javier Torres Hernández, Subsecretary of the Environment at Sedesu, echoed the importance of collaborative efforts to tackle environmental and energy challenges.

“Environmental and energy challenges can only be resolved through collective efforts, shared knowledge, and inter-sector trust. This alliance proves that Querétaro builds sustainability collectively.”

Ricardo Javier Torres Hernández, Subsecretary of the Environment at Sedesu

Alignment with Global Agendas

This collaboration aligns with the goals of accelerating energy transition, focusing on territorial and feminist approaches. It supports the Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming to establish Querétaro as a national innovation laboratory for just energy transition, linking transportation, clean energy, and local development.

Alianza por la Equidad Energética (AEE)

Sostenibilidad Global’s Alianza por la Equidad Energética (AEE) aims to ensure equitable access to renewable energy in Mexico. Key objectives include:

  • Making distributed energy expansion (via solar panels) accessible to communities facing energy poverty.
  • Improving living conditions and fostering social-economic development.
  • Strengthening electrical infrastructure to integrate clean and resilient solutions.
