Key Investments and Construction of 15 Secure Stations

The government of Tamaulipas, Mexico, has allocated 869 million pesos towards security infrastructure, focusing on the construction of 15 secure stations along its border region. This investment complements the 565 million pesos already invested in security infrastructure since the current administration began.

Current Status and Timeline

According to Pedro Cepeda Anaya, the Secretary of Public Works in Tamaulipas, only two out of the planned 15 secure stations remain to be finalized for construction: those in Río Bravo and between Ciudad Guerrero and Nuevo Laredo. The secure stations in Reynosa Norte, Valadeces (Díaz Ordaz), Camargo, and Miguel Alemán are nearing completion of their external construction phases.

Cepeda Anaya further explained that the projects are scheduled to be completed by 2026, with each secure station being equipped for operation upon completion.

Purpose and Impact of Secure Stations

The secure stations will function as strategic points for surveillance, immediate response to emergencies or risky situations, and reinforcing the presence of state authorities at key border crossings along the Ribereña highway. This area has historically lacked attention in terms of security.

Previous Security Initiatives

Cepeda Anaya highlighted that, within the first three years of this state administration, significant security-related projects have been undertaken. These include the construction of the Secretary of Public Security Complex in Tamaulipas, located in El Tejón, San Fernando, as well as the first phase of the State Capital’s Judicial City.
