Introduction to Tequila’s International Expansion
The agroindustrial tequila sector continues to strengthen its international positioning, especially in the Spanish market, one of the most significant within the European Union. This growth is highlighted by the recognition given to restaurant “Bakan” in Madrid by the Jalisco Government and the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT).
Recognition from CRT and Jalisco Government
Aurelio López Rocha, President of the CRT, and Pablo Lemus, Governor of Jalisco, presented the Distinctive T to restaurant Bakan in Madrid as an acknowledgment of its commitment to spreading tequila culture.
Impact on the Tequila Industry
“Bakan contributes to spreading the value of tequila and honoring its origin. This effort has a real impact thanks to the commitment and tequila promotion through consumption centers like Restaurant Bakan. Every sip of tequila benefits a production chain that supports over 100,000 families,” stated the CRT President.
Government Support and Tequila’s Cultural Significance
López Rocha expressed gratitude to the Jalisco Government for its support of the tequila agroindustrial sector, emphasizing that this backing strengthens the certainty, competitiveness, and protection of the Denomination of Origin, crucial elements for the development of the entire agave-tequila production chain.
Pablo Lemus, Governor of Jalisco, highlighted that tequila is central to Jalisciense identity and an economic driver creating thousands of jobs. He mentioned that symbols like tequila, mariachi, and charro (rodeo) project Jalisco as a global reference of Mexicanity, reinforcing its cultural and economic value in international markets.
