Querétaro’s Economically Active Population (PEA) Reaches 1.2 Million

Querétaro, Qro. The growth in the employed population over the past year has been largely driven by women’s participation in the economy.

Key Figures from ENOE (Enquiry on Employment and Earnings)

According to the National Enquiry on Occupation and Employment (ENOE) by Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), between the second trimester of 2024 and the same period in 2025, 30,987 individuals joined Querétaro’s employed population.

Women’s Significant Contribution

Out of these new entrants, 77.3% (23,942) are women, while 22.7% (7,045) are men. This demonstrates that women have played a crucial role in the growth of Querétaro’s employed population.

As of the second trimester of 2025, Querétaro’s employed population stood at 1,187,467 individuals. Out of these, 43.7% are women and 56.3% are men.

Understanding the Employed Population

The employed population, as defined by Inegi, includes individuals aged 15 or older who engaged in any economic activity for at least one hour during the survey week. This group comprises those who were employed but temporarily unable to work without losing their job link, as well as individuals contributing to economic activities without receiving a salary or wage.

Growth in Women’s Employment

Between the second trimesters of 2024 and 2025, the number of employed women increased by 4.8%, from 495,325 to 519,267. Meanwhile, the number of employed men rose by 1.1% during this period.

Consequently, women’s participation in Querétaro’s employed population increased by 0.9 percentage points, rising from 42.8% in the second trimester of 2024 to 43.7% in the same period of 2025.

Economically Active Population (PEA) in Querétaro

The PEA, which includes both employed and unemployed individuals, reached 1.2 million people in Querétaro by the end of the second trimester of 2025. This figure was 23,500 more than the previous year.

Annual Growth and Gender Distribution

The PEA grew annually by 2%. Within this group, women’s participation increased by 5.6%, while men’s representation decreased by 0.7%. Annually, more women joined the PEA compared to men, leading to this shift in gender distribution.
