In December 2024, Kathryn Lueders, SpaceX’s General Manager, wrote to County Judge Eddie Treviño requesting Starbase’s incorporation as a city. Lueders highlighted SpaceX’s existing leadership roles in the area, including managing roads, providing public services, and offering education and healthcare to residents.

Starbase faces the Gulf of Mexico, previously renamed “Gulf of America” by former President Trump.
