Background on the Relevant Person and Context

The Mexican market for artificial intelligence (AI) in businesses is projected to be valued at 32,884 million pesos by the end of 2025, according to a study by IDC commissioned by Dell Technologies. By 2029, the market is expected to sustainably grow and reach a market value of 110,535 million pesos, as per IDC’s forecast.

Mexico is emerging as a hub for AI, with businesses transitioning from experimentation to adopting and gradually accelerating processes powered by AI. IDC identifies key sectors like manufacturing, retail, and financial services as the primary investors in technology.

Current State of AI Adoption

As per IDC’s study, 60% of organizations are already using AI capabilities integrated into their business applications. Moreover, 43% have deployed AI-powered assistants to boost employee productivity.

  • Common AI use cases include 24/7 customer service, content generation and sales proposals, personalized marketing campaigns, generative product design, code generation, and internal AI assistants.
  • Leading industries for AI adoption are finance, manufacturing, and retail, driven by the need for operational efficiency, quicker customer response times, and faster decision-making.

However, incomplete governance frameworks, insufficient internal technical skills, and budget constraints pose challenges for AI adoption. Despite these obstacles, 32% of companies are already developing or training their own AI models, with this figure rising to 54% among large corporations.

Key Factors Driving AI Growth

IDC emphasizes that digital transformation is the primary enabler for AI growth in Mexico. Critical factors for successful AI implementation include data governance, technological interoperability, and investment in specialized talent.

Although 41% of organizations report having a structured AI strategy, IDC recommends establishing multidisciplinary committees, defining key performance indicators, and gaining operational experience to transition AI from pilot projects to sustained business process impact.

Regulatory Environment

Currently, Mexico lacks specific AI regulations. IDC suggests aligning strategies with international frameworks like the European Union’s AI Act and strengthening trust through compliance in cybersecurity and data protection.

Future Outlook

By 2029, IDC forecasts continuous growth in AI spending in Mexico, reaching a market value of 110,535 million pesos. This growth will be supported by hybrid architectures, data sovereignty, and strategic technology partnerships via consulting services.
