Walter “N” Captured in Tlajomulco for Supplying Arms, Explosives, and Drugs

On Thursday, elements of the Gabinete de Seguridad del Gobierno de México apprehended a man identified as Walter “N”, accused of commercializing weapons, explosives, and drugs through instant messaging apps. The operation took place simultaneously in the municipalities of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga and Zapopan, in the state of Jalisco.

Collaborative Efforts Lead to Arrest

According to the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, the detained individual is alleged to have supplied armament for a criminal group operating in Jalisco. The investigations, conducted in collaboration with the Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (Sedena), the Navy (Semar), the National Guard, the FGR, and the National Intelligence Center (CNI), identified two residences used for illicit activities.

Seizure of Evidence in Tlajomulco and Zapopan

One of the residences, located in the San Agustín neighborhood of Tlajomulco, was the site of Walter “N”’s arrest. Authorities confiscated seven short firearms, two long guns, magazines, boxes of ammunition in various calibers, marijuana doses, five packets of white powder (believed to be cocaine), gram scales, a money counter, cash, four vehicles, and a motorcycle.

Simultaneously, in a property in La Florida, Zapopan, authorities found 25 kilograms of marijuana distributed in bags, ammunition, metal plates, additional scales, and various documents.

Parallel Operation Yields Large Cocaine Seizure

In a separate operation, the Navy seized a semi-submersible off the coast of Guerrero carrying over three and a half tons of cocaine. The secretary of Security reported that three foreign nationals were also detained, though their countries of origin and any potential links to Mexican cartels remain unspecified.

During the maritime patrol, Navy personnel located the vessel and seized 180 bags of cocaine, which would have generated over 800 million pesos for criminal groups.

This decomission adds to more than 44.8 tons of cocaine secured at sea since the beginning of Claudia Sheinbaum’s six-year term on October 1, 2024.

Impact of the Seizure

“With this, over 7 million doses were prevented from reaching the streets. A recognition to the Navy for their commitment to Mexico’s security,” Harfuch wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
